This training is offered by the Nebraska Office of Health Disparities & Health Equitity.
Kindergarten, 7th grade and college students are required to be up to date on their shots before they begin school next fall..
Who We Are
Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department's purpose is to promote a healthy and secure quality of life for our communities. Our resident's health and well-being are of the utmost importance and that is why we are the lead agency in these areas:
- Emergency Response - provide leadership, resources, and trainings in public health emergencies. Conducting preparedness exercises by working with emergency managers and other public health partners. Develop "go kits" for businesses and individuals to have ready when a crisis arises.
- Disease Surveillance - identify, investigate and monitor each occurrence of a communicable disease. To take action to contain the spread of disease before it becomes a major public health concern. Educate the public on preventative measures to protect yourself, family and others from disease.
- Tobacco Cessation - conduct cessation classes for individuals needing help to quit tobacco use. Educate youth on the hazards of smoking and chewing to prevent the start tobacco use.
- Data - collecting specific health data for the health district for all public health partners to utilize in their efforts to identify and measure progress in changing bad health trends.
